THE WORLD’S MOST PRESTIGIOUS HEADPHONES

Focal has teamed up with jeweler Tournaire to create an exceptional, one-of-a-kind headphone: Utopia by Tournaire.

Tournaire has been renowned for many years for its symbolic and atypical creations. Focal and Tournaire share many values, including excellence and uniqueness. Both recognized as Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV), the two Houses are renowned in France and around the world for their exceptional craftsmanship.

TOP-OF-THE-RANGE HEADPHONES…

The very high-end Utopia headphones were announced by Focal in June 2016. Its exceptional character (designed and manufactured in France, exclusive Focal technologies, racy design and top-of-the-range materials) very quickly made it a world reference product on the audiophile headphones market.

The design of these exceptional headphones was customized by the jeweler. The result is a unique object: its new aesthetic was designed and created as a family by Philippe and Mathieu Tournaire. It bears the imprint of the Trilogy, a Tournaire symbol representing the evolution of life.

…PERSONALIZED WITH JEWELRY

Jeweller Tournaire has dressed Utopia in gold and diamonds with the Trilogy, a theme close to his heart. This universal symbol links the past represented by the square, the present by the triangle, and finally the circle of plenitude, the future… The Trilogy was created in 750 thousandths yellow gold set with a total of 6.5 carats of diamonds, all hand-crafted in the Tournaire workshops.

This jewel of craftsmanship took more than a year to complete, making it the most prestigious – and probably the most expensive – headphones in the world: Utopia by Tournaire. The object was presented in September 2016 at the Tournaire boutique on Place Vendôme in Paris.

Utopia by Tournaire is available to order in a limited edition of eight numbered units. The selling price is 100,000 euros for the headphones alone, 110,000 euros with the bronze stand.

Sharing a taste for innovation, Focal and the Théâtre Antique d’Orange naturally came together around L’Odyssée Sonore, a project combining heritage, modernity and sound innovation.

INNOVATION IN SOUND

Listed as a World Heritage Site, the Théâtre Antique and the city of Orange have made sound a new cultural ambition for the city’s thousand-year-old heritage. To this end, immersive showcases have been designed, and the Théâtre Antique has called on Focal, a sound enthusiast since 1979, an expert in high-fidelity acoustics and a French living heritage company, to enhance the sound.

BATHYS HEADPHONES IN ORANGE

The first of these is L’Odyssée Sonore, an immersive show in which visitors travel through sounds and images projected onto the majestic Théâtre Antique d’Orange. Bathys was chosen to provide a pure listening experience. Its loudspeakers deliver high-fidelity sound while immersing the listener in a veritable listening bubble, thanks to its active noise reduction technology. It benefits from Focal’s expertise in high-end hi-fi headphones for sensational listening.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL SOUND

L’Odyssée Sonore – in partnership with Edeis and Imki – is a monumental video mapping “generated by Artificial Intelligence. It is an incursion into mythology and wonder. Scenes, forests, gods, goddesses… are projected onto the entire ancient theater, and the multiple sound discoveries, thanks to three-dimensional spatialized and geolocalized sound, accompany each visitor.

WHEN THE GODS INTERVENE

In 2025, a new version of the show comes to life, in partnership with Cosmo AV and Narrative.

For this second journey, Terra, goddess of the Earth, awakens at the heart of the majestic Ancient Theatre. A forgotten world resurfaces—a universe where reality and imagination meet, where gods and humans must reconnect to avoid Chaos.

In this unique immersive experience where the past converses with the present through augmented sound reality technology, let yourself be guided by the voice of the Gods with the Bathys headphones. Spectacular sounds and images come to life before your eyes. The wind’s breath, the rumble of the earth—each sound responds to your presence.

Focal has joined forces with Sonorium and the album listening sessions and meetings with artists by making its high-fidelity loudspeakers available.

These immersive listening sessions, organized in various locations throughout the year and featuring artists from a wide variety of backgrounds, offer a new collective musical experience. Thanks to the hi-fi quality of Focal loudspeakers (Aria, Kanta, Sopra…), they are fully at the service of emotions.

SESSION SCHEDULE

The listening sessions take place in three stages. A specialist (journalist, lecturer, sound engineer, etc.) or the artist himself presents an album, explaining the context in which it was created and produced, and sharing previously unpublished anecdotes to provide the audience with keys to listening. This is followed by a full, high-fidelity listening session. Finally, there’s time for questions and answers from the audience.

Feu! Chatterton, Dinos, Nicolas Godin, L’Impératrice, MC Solaar, Florian Pellissier, Piers Faccini, Bob Dylan and many others are just some of the album listeners who have performed at venues as far afield as the Grand Palais in Paris.

ABOUT SONORIUM

Founded by Sophie Chrétien-Kimmel and Mélanie Arrès, Sonorium offers various types of music-listening experiences for the general public and companies alike, with the aim of democratizing access to musical culture, introducing people to the creative process by highlighting the work behind a work, promoting musical heritage and creating a link between music and other art forms.

To celebrate their 10th Wedding Anniversary, Focal and Naim have developed a vintage high-fidelity system: Focal Naim 10th Anniversary Edition.

AN EXCEPTIONAL INSTALLATION

Praised for its design and compactness in relation to its performance, the Sopra N°2 loudspeaker was chosen for this anniversary system. The sides are finished in concrete, while the front is pewter-colored: these metallic-effect finishes,unprecedented in the audio sector, are inspired by architecture in all its nobility. What’s more, they embody the spirit of innovation and Focal’s craftsmanship and industrial expertise of over 40 years.

A range of Naim Audio electronics powers the speakers: the streaming music player NDX 2 streaming music player, combined with NAC 282 and preamplifiers. NAP 250 DR PREAMPLIFIERS preamplifiers, complemented by HiCap DR and NAPSC POWER SUPPLIES. These top-of-the-range products come in a pewter finish for perfect system harmony. Finally, the installation includes all the necessary connectors, including a pair of Super Lumina cables (3m).
