Wax Tailor is a French songwriter and music producer. He began to make a name for himself on the trip-hop scene in 2004 (with the release of the Lost The Way EP). In 2006, he released his debut album, Tales of the Forgotten Melodies, which was a big hit in France and the United States. In 2007, he returned to the spotlight with his second album, Hope & Sorrow, featuring singer Charlotte Savary and Ursula Rucker.

Wax Tailor invites us into his studio in Vernon, France. The artist talks about his relationship with the stage. On the one hand, a solitary dimension where you isolate yourself to produce the music; on the other, the live aspect where you are in communion with the audience, reinventing yourself and sublimating the music. For Wax Tailor, the studio has to be designed around what we do. He also talks about his relationship with listening, and the cohabitation of different sounds where it’s no longer the intrinsic quality of a sound that predominates, but the way it’s arranged between them. His studio, equipped with Focal products, gives him incomparable listening comfort, with no unpleasant surprises.

Phil Greiss is a French-Canadian producer, composer and mixer. He has left his name on numerous gold, platinum and diamond discs. At ease on his own or with other artists, he is known for delivering award-winning sounds. In particular, he produced, composed, arranged, mixed and recorded Zaho’s first two albums.

FOCAL PRODUCTS BY PHIL GREISS

Phil Greiss got to know Focal on a trip to Houston thanks to Mickaël Zibi. He discovered the Twin6 Be monitors, and has since adopted the Focal sound. More recently, he has also acquired a pair of Trio6 Be monitors, which give him an extra punch of sound.

Trio6 Be has the particularity of being two monitor loudspeakers in a single cabinet. The Focus mode lets you switch from a 3-way monitor to a 2-way monitor. A passionate obsessive, Phil Greiss draws his inspiration from the new generation who create instinctively on platforms such as Soundclound or Youtube. He learns from their use of new technologies and harnesses this energy for his personal projects. For him, Listen Beyond evokes the rediscovery of tunes we thought we knew, that particularity that allows us to detect the difference, the detail that had escaped us on systems other than Focal.

James Njie is a Norwegian producer, composer who has been working for MER Studios since November 2017. A collaborator of Alan Walker, he took part in the productions “Darkside” and “Lonely”, as well as the album “Different World” (released in December 2018). Artists such as Kygo, Steve Aoki, Ina Wroldsen, Noah Cyrus, XXXTentacion and Avicii have called on his talents for remixes. James is also a member of the group ISÁK.

JAMES NJIE’S FOCAL PRODUCTS

Dan Levy is a French multi-instrumentalist. Originally a film composer, he founded indie pop band The Dø with Olivia Merilahti in 2008. Their debut album, “A Mouthful”, has won over audiences, topping the charts with hits like “On my Shoulders”! A blend of their different influences; from Jimi Hendrix to Bjork, via Muddy Waters or Peaches, the whole record is built around Olivia Merilahti’s stunning songwriting and vocals with Dan Levy’s heartfelt musical arrangements, which have made a good impression on a pop rock audience in demand of fresh, innovative artists.

BERGSUN’S FOCAL PRODUCTS

In 2014, Bergsun began working with the CMS 65 loudspeakers and CMS SUB cabinet. Neutrality, dynamics and transparency are the watchwords of the products accompanying her creation.

In 2017, she discovered SHAPE 65 loudspeakers and then Focal Utopia headphones. She also uses Listen professional headphones, ideal for revealing the smallest details, combined with the Trio6 Be 3-way monitor, renowned for its extreme neutrality.

Originally from Nice, Feder, whose real name is Hadrien Federiconi, began his career as a DJ in London and made a name for himself with a remix of Sixto Rodriguez’s song ‘Can’t get away’.

His first major international success came in 2015 with the song ‘Goodbye’ (number 1 on the digital sales charts for 6 weeks in France and several other countries), and he followed this up with ‘Blind’ (2015), ‘Lordly’ (2016) and ‘Breathe’ (2017), on Atlantic Records.

In 2018, Feder took part in the production of Mylène Farmer’s album ‘Désobéissance’, co-composing and producing 7 tracks, including the single ‘Rolling Stone’.
