Compact Coaxial Sound for Shallow BMW Speaker Locations
The Focal IC BMW 100L is a vehicle-specific 2-way coaxial speaker kit designed to improve clarity, tonal balance and sound distribution in selected BMW-family factory audio systems.
Each speaker combines a 100mm Black Polyglass woofer with an integrated aluminium/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter. This compact arrangement is intended for compatible locations that use one full-range speaker opening rather than separate woofer and tweeter mounts.
The L chassis provides a shallow 36mm behind-surface mounting depth for selected restricted factory locations.
BMW Factory Audio Compatibility
Compatible with selected BMW vehicles equipped with Standard Audio, Hi-Fi, Top Hi-Fi or Harman Kardon systems where specifically listed. Compatibility varies by model, production year, market, speaker position and factory audio configuration. Vehicles equipped with Bowers & Wilkins or other premium systems may require a different solution. BMW, MINI and related vehicles can use different factory amplifiers, speaker impedances, connectors, equalisation and channel processing. Physical fitment does not automatically confirm electrical or acoustic compatibility with every factory audio system.

2-Way Coaxial Design for Single Speaker Locations
The woofer and tweeter share the same chassis. The Polyglass cone reproduces midrange and upper bass, while the centrally mounted tweeter handles high-frequency information.
This configuration is suitable for selected rear-door, rear-side and supplementary positions where a separate factory tweeter location is not provided.
100mm Black Polyglass Woofer
Black Polyglass cone technology combines the damping of a cellulose pulp cone with the additional rigidity of fine glass microbeads. This helps vocals and instruments sound cleaner and more naturally defined.
The 100mm measurement refers to the woofer. The integrated high-frequency driver is an aluminium/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter.
Integrated Aluminium/Magnesium Inverted-Dome Tweeter
The integrated tweeter provides broad high-frequency dispersion from a compact factory-sized speaker. Aluminium contributes rigidity and magnesium adds damping for controlled treble response.
The result is improved clarity in cymbals, strings, vocals and subtle recording detail without requiring a separate tweeter position.
Balanced Midrange and Controlled Mid-Bass
The published 80Hz-23kHz response supports clear midrange and useful upper-bass and mid-bass output. Drums and bass instruments gain improved definition while vocals remain easier to follow.
The IC BMW 100L does not replace BMW under-seat woofers or a dedicated subwoofer for deeper bass.

The published 89.5dB figure is sensitivity, not maximum SPL. The 129.5mm dimension is the approximate overall chassis diameter and should not be presented as a universal cut-out size.
Difference Between IC BMW 100L and IC BMW 100
The IC BMW 100L uses a shallow vehicle-specific chassis for selected restricted mounting locations. The standard IC BMW 100 uses different mounting geometry.
Select the product from the current Compatibility Guide for the exact vehicle and speaker position. The two kits should not be treated as interchangeable solely because both use 100mm drivers.
Difference Between IC BMW 100L and IS BMW 100L
The IC BMW 100L is a coaxial kit with the tweeter integrated into the woofer chassis. The IS BMW 100L is a component kit with separate woofers and tweeters.
Use the coaxial kit for confirmed single-speaker locations and the component kit where compatible separate factory tweeter positions are available.
4-Ohm Design for Compatible Factory and Aftermarket Systems
The IC BMW 100L has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. It can operate in selected compatible factory systems and may be powered by a correctly specified aftermarket amplifier.
Factory equalisation, frequency filtering and channel processing may remain after the speaker is replaced.
Vehicle-Specific Plug & Play Integration
The IC BMW 100L uses dedicated vehicle connections and mounting provisions for selected compatible factory locations. In confirmed applications, compatible original speaker wiring can remain intact.
Plug & Play describes the dedicated connections and mounting geometry used in supported applications. It does not mean universal fitment or guarantee that every installation can be completed without careful trim removal, sealing, replacement clips or minor adjustment.

The IC BMW 100L is listed for selected BMW and Alpina BMW passenger vehicles and selected MINI models. Compatibility depends on the exact production period, factory audio package and speaker position.

The IC BMW 100L is commonly used in compatible rear-door, rear-side or supplementary locations that provide a single speaker opening.
It is not limited exclusively to rear installation. The current Compatibility Guide must confirm the actual position in the vehicle.
Build a Complete Focal Inside BMW Audio System
A complete system can combine the IC BMW 100L with a compatible front component kit, the ICC BMW 100 centre channel and correctly matched BMW under-seat woofers.
The correct under-seat woofer impedance must be selected according to the original system and proposed amplification.
Retain the Original BMW Interior
In a confirmed application, the IC BMW 100L remains concealed behind compatible original trim and factory speaker grilles. The dashboard, doors, seating area and vehicle controls retain their original appearance.
The installation can remain substantially reversible when the original wiring, connectors, mounting points and surrounding trim are preserved.
