The Focal IS VW 155 is a vehicle-specific 2-way component speaker kit designed to improve the clarity, detail and tonal balance of compatible Volkswagen factory audio systems.
The kit combines 155mm Black Polyglass woofers with separate aluminium inverted-dome tweeters. The component design provides clearer vocals, improved instrument separation, stronger and more controlled mid-bass, and more detailed high-frequency reproduction than many standard factory speakers.
The IS VW 155 is designed for selected Volkswagen vehicles and may also support compatible Audi, CUPRA, SEAT and MAN applications that share suitable speaker mounting and electrical architecture.
Factory Audio Compatibility

In a compatible non-amplified vehicle, the original factory head unit sends powered speaker-level signals directly to the speakers. Replacing supported original speakers with the IS VW 155 can improve sound quality while retaining the original radio, infotainment functions and vehicle controls.
Factory-amplified and premium systems may use separate amplification, active filtering, channel-specific processing or different speaker impedances. Dynaudio, Harman Kardon and other premium configurations require separate assessment.
2-Way Component Speaker Design
The 155mm woofers and aluminium tweeters install in separate compatible factory locations. The woofers reproduce midrange and upper-bass information, while the tweeters handle the high frequencies.
Positioning the tweeters higher in the cabin helps raise the perceived soundstage and place vocals and instruments closer to dashboard level. The result is a wider and more naturally positioned presentation.
155mm Black Polyglass Woofers
The 155mm Black Polyglass woofers use a cellulose pulp cone coated with fine glass microbeads. The construction combines natural damping with increased rigidity, reducing unwanted resonance and improving cone control.
Vocals, guitars, piano and percussion become clearer and easier to distinguish, while drums and bass instruments gain improved upper-bass and mid-bass definition.
Aluminium Inverted-Dome Tweeters
The separate aluminium inverted-dome tweeters provide detailed high-frequency reproduction with broad sound dispersion. Aluminium increases dome rigidity and helps reduce distortion, allowing cymbals, strings and vocal harmonics to be reproduced with greater precision.
The supplied adaptation rings and mounting foams support integration into selected compatible original tweeter locations.
Integrated Frequency Filtering
The IS VW 155 includes an integrated woofer filter and inline tweeter filter. These components divide the audio signal between the drivers, helping them blend smoothly and protecting the tweeter from unsuitable low-frequency energy.

Efficient 2-Ohm Vehicle-Specific Design
The IS VW 155 has a nominal system impedance of 2 ohms and sensitivity of 92dB. This supports effective performance from compatible non-amplified factory head units.
The electrical design is vehicle-specific and should not be assumed to suit every source unit or amplifier. Any aftermarket amplifier must be stable at the speaker’s nominal impedance and correctly configured for the complete system.
Compatible with Suitable Aftermarket Amplification
The IS VW 155 can be used with a correctly specified aftermarket amplifier. The Focal Impulse 4.320 may be integrated in selected compatible non-amplified Volkswagen systems using the required Y-ISO Harness, extension cable, power-supply wiring, amplifier harness and any additional integration accessories identified for the vehicle.
Some vehicle configurations may also require an IW SPK SIM or Power Supply Set. The complete cable and accessory requirements must be confirmed before installation.
Vehicle-Specific Integration
The woofers use dedicated connectors and integrated mounting provisions for selected compatible factory locations. The separate tweeters use adaptation rings and supplied foams for suitable original high-frequency positions.
Once installed, the system remains concealed behind factory trim and speaker grilles, preserving the original interior appearance.
Compatible Applications
The IS VW 155 is listed for selected Volkswagen models and speaker positions, including compatible versions of the Arteon, Crafter II, Golf 7, Golf 8, Golf Sportsvan, ID. Buzz, Jetta VII, Passat, Polo VI, T-Cross, T-Roc, Taigo, Tiguan and other supported vehicles.
Selected Audi Q4 e-tron, CUPRA Born, SEAT Ibiza and MAN TGE applications may also be supported. Compatibility must be confirmed for the exact vehicle, production year, original audio system and intended speaker position.
Front and Rear Applications
The IS VW 155 may be used in front or rear positions depending on the vehicle’s original speaker arrangement. Some vehicles use the IS VW 155 in the front with IC VW 165 rear speakers, while others use a larger IS VW 180 front kit and the IS VW 155 in the rear.
The correct front and rear products must be confirmed separately for each vehicle.
