The Focal IC BMW 100 is a vehicle-specific 2-way coaxial speaker kit designed to improve clarity, tonal balance and sound distribution in selected BMW-family factory audio systems.
Each speaker combines a 100mm Black Polyglass woofer with an integrated aluminium/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter. This compact coaxial arrangement is suited to compatible factory positions that use a single full-range speaker location rather than separate woofer and tweeter mounts.
The IC BMW 100 can provide clearer vocals, improved instrument definition, stronger and more controlled mid-bass, and more detailed high-frequency reproduction while retaining compatible original trim.

2-Way Coaxial Design for Single Factory Speaker Locations
The IC BMW 100 integrates its woofer and tweeter into the same speaker chassis. The 100mm Polyglass woofer reproduces midrange and upper-bass information, while the centrally mounted inverted-dome tweeter handles high-frequency detail.
This configuration is particularly useful in compatible rear-door, rear-side or other factory positions where the vehicle does not provide a separate tweeter location.
Where a compatible separate tweeter location is available, an IS BMW component kit may provide a higher and more focused soundstage.
100mm Black Polyglass Woofers
The 100mm woofers use Focal’s Black Polyglass cone technology. Fine glass microbeads applied to a cellulose pulp cone combine effective damping with increased rigidity.
The cone helps vocals and instruments sound cleaner and more naturally defined, while maintaining control through busy musical passages.
The 100mm measurement refers to the woofer. The integrated tweeter should be identified by its aluminium/magnesium inverted-dome construction rather than described as a 100mm tweeter.
Integrated Aluminium/Magnesium Inverted-Dome Tweeters
The centrally mounted aluminium/magnesium inverted-dome tweeter reproduces high-frequency detail with broad dispersion.
Aluminium contributes rigidity, while magnesium adds damping. This supports clear cymbals, strings, vocal harmonics and fine recording detail without relying on overly sharp treble.
The integrated tweeter and crossover allow the IC BMW 100 to operate as a compact matched coaxial system.
Balanced Midrange and Controlled Mid-Bass
The IC BMW 100 has a published frequency response of 80Hz-23kHz. Its 100mm woofer provides useful upper-bass and mid-bass output, improving the definition of drums and bass instruments while supporting clearer vocals.
The speaker should be described as improving mid-bass and midrange definition rather than producing true deep bass. BMW under-seat woofers or a dedicated subwoofer remain responsible for the lowest frequencies.

4-Ohm Design for Compatible Factory and Aftermarket Systems
The IC BMW 100 has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. It can operate in selected compatible factory systems and may also be powered by a correctly specified aftermarket amplifier.
The connected amplifier must be suitable for the speaker impedance, power handling and original signal configuration. Factory equalisation and channel processing may remain after the speakers are replaced.
Vehicle-Specific Plug & Play Integration
Dedicated BMW-compatible connectors and a vehicle-specific chassis support installation in selected original speaker locations without cutting compatible factory speaker wiring.
Plug & Play describes the dedicated connections and mounting design used in confirmed applications. It does not mean that the IC BMW 100 fits every BMW-family vehicle or every speaker location.
Additional fasteners, trim clips, acoustic sealing or minor installation materials may be required depending on the exact vehicle and condition of the original components.
41mm Mounting Depth and Position-Specific Fitment
The IC BMW 100 has a published mounting depth of 41mm. The available depth, frame geometry, fixing points, connector orientation and surrounding trim must be checked for the intended factory location.
The published product information and technical drawing use different dimension descriptions for the frame. Exact fitment should therefore be confirmed from the current Compatibility Guide and the actual vehicle rather than from a generic cut-out measurement.
Related products such as the IC BMW 100L and IC BMW 100 V2 use different mounting geometry and should not be treated as universally interchangeable.
Factory Speaker Replacement and Amplifier Upgrades Require Different Checks
The IC BMW 100 may be listed as a direct speaker replacement in selected Standard Audio, Hi-Fi, Top Hi-Fi or Harman Kardon systems.
This does not mean that the Focal Impulse 4.320 and its integration harnesses can be added to every one of those factory systems. Impulse amplifier solutions are generally limited to selected standard non-amplified vehicles and require the correct harness, power wiring and configuration.
Factory-amplified systems require separate assessment before aftermarket amplification is added.
Compatible BMW, Alpina, MINI and Toyota Supra Applications
The IC BMW 100 is listed for selected BMW and Alpina passenger vehicles, selected MINI models and selected Toyota Supra speaker positions.
These are broad application groups rather than confirmation that every model year, body style, market specification, audio package or speaker position is compatible.
The current Compatibility Guide must be used to confirm the exact vehicle and intended location.
Common Rear and Supplementary Speaker Applications
The IC BMW 100 is commonly used in compatible rear-door, rear-side or supplementary speaker positions where the factory system provides a single speaker opening.
It is not limited exclusively to rear installation. The correct position depends on the vehicle’s factory speaker layout and the current Focal application listing.
A coaxial speaker should not be installed in a location that requires a separate tweeter arrangement unless the application has been specifically confirmed.
Difference Between IC BMW 100 and IS BMW 100
The IC BMW 100 is a coaxial kit with the tweeter integrated into the woofer chassis. It is designed for compatible single-speaker factory positions.
The IS BMW 100 is a component kit with separate woofers and tweeters. It is intended for compatible positions that provide separate factory locations for both drivers.
The correct kit should be selected according to the vehicle’s original speaker arrangement rather than price or model name alone.
Build a Complete Focal Inside BMW Audio System
A complete BMW upgrade can combine the IC BMW 100 with a compatible front component kit, the ICC BMW 100 centre channel and correctly matched BMW under-seat woofers.
BMW under-seat woofers are available in different impedances. The appropriate 2-ohm, 4-ohm or 8-ohm version must be selected according to the original factory system and proposed amplification.
A dedicated subwoofer can be added where deeper low-frequency extension is required.
Retain the Original BMW Interior
In a confirmed application, the IC BMW 100 remains concealed behind compatible original trim and factory speaker grilles.
The dashboard, doors, controls and infotainment functions remain unchanged while the audio system benefits from improved speaker technology.
