The Focal InstalPro Acoustic Barrier Kit enhances the performance of any automotive loudspeaker installation by isolating the rear sound wave from the front, eliminating phase cancellation, and significantly improving clarity, mid-bass response, and overall tonal definition.
By creating an effective acoustic seal and barrier behind and around each speaker, this system ensures that every watt of audio energy is converted into pure sound — not lost through vibration or reflection inside the door cavity. Ideal for OEM replacement or high-performance component systems, this kit delivers audible improvements in imaging, tightness, and dynamics.
How It Works
The rear sound wave from a speaker is out of phase with the front wave. When they meet, acoustic cancellation occurs, dramatically reducing output and clarity. The InstalPro system prevents this by forming a sealed acoustic chamber behind the speaker, ensuring accurate sound reproduction.
Kit Components
• 20 cm × 20 cm “Egg-Crate” Acoustic Pad:
Placed directly behind the speaker on the outer door skin, this honeycombed foam absorbs the back-wave energy and improves mid-bass control.
• Seal Rings:
Create a perfect airtight seal between the speaker frame and the mounting surface, preventing sound leakage and distortion from uneven door skins.
• 25 mm × 200 mm Foam Front Ring:
Directs the sound through the factory door-trim grille and prevents energy loss into the inner door cavity, ensuring maximum projection into the cabin.
Installation Overview

Prepare the Mounting Area:
Drill and clean the mounting holes. Do not use the speaker as a drilling template — metal filings can damage the magnets. -
Clean the Door Surface:
Wipe down the area with methylated spirits or wax remover for optimal adhesion. -
Apply the Acoustic Pad:
Secure the egg-crate foam directly behind the speaker location. -
Optional:
For superior damping, line the inner and outer door skins with Focal BAM or BAM XL sound-absorbing sheets. -
Fit the Seal Ring & Mount the Speaker:
Tighten evenly to achieve a complete air seal. -
Attach the Front Foam Ring:
Align it around the speaker to direct output through the grille and stop sound from escaping sideways.
